Danny Amendola, Daryl Smith, Corey GrahamDanny Amendola might have played his last snap as a member of the New England Patriots.

Amendola’s name has been “floated” in trade discussions, “NFL teams” told Bleacher Report’s Dan Pompei. If Amendola cannot be traded, there’s “speculation” he could be released by the Patriots.

Amendola signed a five-year, $28.5 million contract last offseason that was only guaranteed for two years. If the Patriots cut Amendola before March 11 at 4 p.m., they could free up $2.88 million in salary cap room by making him a June 2 designation. If the Patriots trade Amendola, it would cost them $645,000 in cap room.

Amendola caught 54 passes for 633 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games in 2013. He took a backseat to Julian Edelman as a starting wide receiver. Edelman, who’s a free agent, caught 105 passes for 1,056 yards with six touchdowns. Edelman was also more productive in the postseason.
