The New England Patriots could fill their wide receiver need with an All-Pro.
The Patriots are among the teams that “reached out” to free-agent receiver Steve Smith, Yahoo! Sports’ Eric Edholm reported Thursday. The Baltimore Ravens, San Diego Chargers, Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks also have shown interest in the five-time Pro Bowl selection.
Smith was released by the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, and he’s finalizing a visit with the Ravens, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported.
Smith caught 64 passes for 745 yards and four touchdowns last season. He had four catches for 62 yards against the Patriots in the Panthers’ Week 11 win.
