boFootball and baseball are two very different animals, but some professional athletes have bridged the gap between the NFL and MLB by playing in both leagues.

Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson says his goal is to become one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game, but it seems he has other athletic feats on his mind as well. He made good on the Texas Rangers picking him in the Rule 5 minor league draft by reporting to Rangers spring training on Monday.

He’s not the first athlete to double-dip in the NFL and MLB.

Famed two-sport athletes Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders balanced baseball and football in legendary fashion. Jackson was the MVP of the 1989 All-Star Game the same year he rushed for 950 yards for the Los Angeles Raiders. Sanders played 14 years in the NFL and nine (partial) seasons in MLB. He is the only athlete to play in both a World Series and a Super Bowl.

Two-sport athletes are now rarities in modern American sports, showing how exceptional those who took on both baseball and football truly were.
