The Red Sox’s 2013 World Series run was magical in so many ways; no one in Boston will ever forget it. None of that matters now, though, as the Red Sox have turned the page and shifted their attention to repeating in 2014.
A lot broke the Red Sox’s way in 2013. As a result, Boston was one of the most consistent teams in recent memory. There absolutely were some tense moments, but the Red Sox showed a remarkable ability to approach each game as its own entity, even in the face of some crushing defeats.
There were several surprises in 2013, including John Lackey’s career renaissance, Daniel Nava’s emergence as a key piece, Koji Uehara becoming a lights-out closer and David Ortiz staying incredibly productive despite a 2012 Achilles’ injury. Surely, 2014 will bring more surprises.
