Three U.S. Marines were stabbed early Monday morning in an attempt to resolve a fight between Angels and Dodgers fans.

The altercation occurred at 1:45 a.m. in Huntington Beach, Calif., when a woman wearing an Angels jersey reportedly made a remark about the Dodgers to two other women, according to The Los Angeles Daily News. The two Dodgers fans then attacked the Angels fan and that’s when the Marines attempted to break up the fight.

One Marine allegedly was stabbed in the face by 23-year-old Manuel Alvarez with a broken bottle and another was found about a block away bleeding and unsure of who stabbed him. Huntington Beach police Lt. Mitch O’Brien said their injuries were not life threatening.

A third Marine was treated for injuries at a San Diego hospital and released.

Six people were arrested, but only Alvarez and Victoria Robledo, 20, were booked. They both face an assault with a deadly weapon charge.
