Union College goaltender Colin Stevens recorded 25 saves in his team’s 3-1 win over Providence in the NCAA tournament regional final on Saturday afternoon, but his defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere, also got in on the action between the pipes.

The 21-year-old Philadelphia Flyers prospect and Hobey Baker finalist preserved the Dutchmen’s 1-0 lead in the first period as he made a sequence of miraculous saves in the crease. Gostisbehere covered for his junior netminder during a flurry of Friars shots, dropping to his knees and making not just one save during the barrage, but four total.

It’s safe to say Gostisbehere saved a goal — or four — on the play, but it was certainly all worth it for the junior blueliner as Union became the first team to punch its ticket to the Frozen Four.
