Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin became the first player to score 50 goals this season when he beat Blues goaltender Ryan Miller during the first period of Tuesday night’s game in St. Louis.

The reigning Hart Trophy winner has scored 23 of his 50 goals on the power play, which also leads the league. In fact, all of the other Capitals forwards have combined to score just 131 goals through 78 games.
