Two rookies have stepped up — and then some — for the Boston Bruins in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
After missing Game 1 because of the flu, bruising Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller made his presence felt Sunday afternoon in Game 2, finishing with four hits. The young blueliner certainly impressed NESN’s Andy Brickley, who called Miller a “menacing factor” in the Bruins’ 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings at TD Garden.
Meanwhile, Justin Florek, who played in just four games with Boston this season, helped jump-start a Bruins offense that was shut out Friday, jumping all over a Jimmy Howard turnover to give Boston a 1-0 lead in the first period Sunday.
