Arkansas State Sells Spring Game Coaching Job For $11,700

arkansas state footballAn online bidder paid $11,700 for the opportunity to coach the Arkansas State football team in its annual spring game this Friday.

The winner is 25-year-old Silicon Valley entrepreneur Nick Bhardwaj. Bhardwaj told ESPN.com that he shelled out the serious chunk of change in the eBay bidding war because he thought the world of college football seemed interesting.

“I dropped out of San Jose State and didn’t have a chance to enjoy the full college experience,” Bhardwaj told ESPN.com. “Doing this, even for a day, is a way to make up for that.”

Bhardwaj will wear a headset and call out plays for the Red Wolves’ intrasquad spring game. ASU football coach Blake Anderson came up with the idea of the auction as a way to raise money and awareness for the program.

Bhardwaj’s payment will go to the Red Wolves Foundation, which helps fund the school’s athletic program.
