V. Stiviano, the woman at the center of the Donald Sterling scandal, said she was “very saddened” by the NBA’s decision to impose a lifetime ban on the Clippers owner, according to her attorney, via the Los Angeles Times.
Her attorney, Mac Nehoray of Calabasas, Calif., also told the Times that Stiviano “never wanted any harm to Donald.”
Stiviano’s voice is heard on the taped conversation between herself and Sterling in which the owner unleashed a stream of racially-charged comments. The leaked conversation led to Sterling’s stiff punishment, but Stiviano is reportedly “devastated” that the recording was made public.
According to her attorney, someone released the tape for money, but he maintains that it was not his client.
