T.J. Oshie is in the midst of a very successful NHL season, both individually and from a team perspective as his St. Louis Blues are among the favorites to win the Stanley Cup.
It’s also been an eventful year off the ice for the United States Olympian, who rose to national fame for his performance in the Americans’ shootout victory over Russia at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Oshie and his fiancée, Lauren Cosgrove, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Lyla Grace, into the world last month. It was a special moment for the young couple, but as Oshie revealed Friday of NBC’s “Today Show,” there’s been a fair amount of stress for them, too.
Lyla Grace was born with gastroschisis, “a condition in which an infant is born with the intestines on the outside of the body.” She underwent a successful surgery and is getting better.
“She’s adorable,” Oshie said. “You catch yourself just holding her for two hours and looking at her the whole time.”
