Former New England Patriots wide receiver Brandon Lloyd is back in the NFL.
The San Francisco 49ers announced Tuesday that they had signed Lloyd to a one-year contract.
Lloyd spent the 2013 season away from football after the Patriots declined to pick up his contract option following a season in which he had 74 catches for 911 yards and four touchdowns. He has 385 career receptions for 5,695 yards and 35 touchdowns in 10 NFL seasons with the 49ers, Patriots, Washington Redskins, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and St. Louis Rams.
Lloyd returns to the team that selected him in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2003 NFL draft. Lloyd spent three seasons with the 49ers before being traded to the Redskins for third- and fourth-round draft picks.
Lloyd starred in direct-to-DVD zombie movie “After Effect,” which was released Oct. 28, during his sabbatical from the NFL.
