Chris JohnsonThe New York Jets’ offense just got a whole lot faster.

Former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson has signed with the New York Jets on a two-year deal, per the team.

USA Today reported, citing a source, that Johnson will make “a base value of $8 million with yardage incentives that could add $1 million to the package.”

Johnson, who was released by the Titans on April 4 after six seasons with the club, visited the Jets on Tuesday and did not meet with any other NFL team over the course of his free agency.

The 28-year-old running back likely will see plenty of action on a Jets team that rushed for over 2,000 yards in 2013 and attempted the second-most rushes in the AFC behind only the Buffalo Bills.

Getting enough carries won’t exactly be easy for Johnson, though, as he’ll have to battle running backs Bilal Powell and Chris Ivory for touches in a crowded New York backfield.

Johnson rushed for 1,077 yards and six touchdowns on 3.9 yards per carry in 2013.
