brian wilsonSAN DIEGO — Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said reliever Brian Wilson will be placed on the disabled list with nerve irritation in his right elbow.

The move will be made Wednesday, retroactive to Monday.

Mattingly said Wilson was examined by a team doctor Monday and there was no ligament damage. Wilson had reconstructive elbow surgery in April 2012.

The manager said he hopes it’s a situation where Wilson just needs time for the nerve to settle down.

Wilson pitched Sunday night, allowing three runs in the eighth inning of a 3-1 loss to San Diego.

Mattingly announced the DL move after Tuesday night’s 3-2 victory over the Padres.
