CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Richard Sherman has the presidential seal of approval.
Former NFLPA president Domonique Foxworth relayed an anectode from Super Bowl XLVIII to the Seattle Seahawks cornerback on Wednesday. The two were participating on a panel at Harvard Business School about the “Social Capital of the Savvy Athlete” with Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and Houston Texans running back Arian Foster.
“I never told you this, but at the Super Bowl, I was in the box with former President (Bill) Clinton, and he was saying he believed you were misunderstood and you were one of his favorite players,” Foxworth said.
“I just wanted to share that with you because it’s important. He’s a thought leader. He didn’t have to say that. We were just watching the game, and you came up, and he was like, ‘That guy gets a bad rap, he’s a really smart guy, he works really hard, he’s from Compton, right?'”
Sherman was one of this year’s Super Bowl’s biggest storylines after his reaction to beating the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, calling Michael Crabtree a “sorry” wide receiver, went viral
Sherman briefly touched on the subject at Harvard.
“What is class in sports?” Sherman asked. “What is it? Do I say great game and go cookie cutter, sit in the box and go ‘Great game, they played a great game’? No, I don’t think (Crabtree) played a great game.”
