Boston Red Sox starting pitcher John Lackey was solid in his season debut Wednesday night, allowing just three hits over six innings in a 6-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.

It would have been four hits if Dustin Pedroia wasn’t playing second base.

With two outs in the second inning, the three-time Gold Glover flashed some serious leather on J.J. Hardy’s grounder up the middle, which seemed destined for the outfield. Pedroia ranged behind the second base bag to make a diving stop, then fired an off-balance throw to first baseman Mike Napoli to complete the highlight-reel play.

Pedey did his part at the plate as well, going 4-for-5 on the night with two runs scored. This guy can do it all.
