Philadelphia Flyers forward Zac Rinaldo was ejected from Sunday night’s game against the Buffalo Sabres and will likely face further discipline from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety.

Rinaldo received a match penalty for an elbow to the head of Sabres defenseman Chad Ruhwedel in the third period. Buffalo scored on the ensuing power play to trim Philly’s lead to 4-1.

Ruhwedel suffered a concussion from the hit, according to the Buffalo News.

Rinaldo was suspended in Feb. 2012 for a high hit and escaped a suspension in September after he was ejected for elbowing Washington Capitals forward Mikhail Grabovski during a preseason game.

There is little doubt that Rinaldo will receive a suspension for his hit on Ruhwedel. The real question is how many games will he be banned?
