Former Boston College tight end C.J. Parsons and former Marist College quarterback Anthony Varrichione have been charged in the violent beating of a homeless man in Boston in January.
The two men allegedly beat the homeless man, Michael Hudson, until he was unconscious. A passerby broke up the assault by covering Hudson with her own body. Hudson went to the hospital in critical condition and has no recollection of the attack.
The charges come after a three-month investigation by a grand jury. Parsons could be in additional trouble for allegedly trying to persuade a witness not to cooperate with the investigation.
While the results of the charges won’t come for some time, the good will of the woman who saved Hudson was recognized by Suffolk County district attorney Daniel F. Conley, who said in a statement “As disturbing as this attack was, it also showed the courage of the passersby who refused to look the other way when they saw someone being hurt.”
