Rolando McClainFormer Oakland Raiders first-round draft pick Rolando McClain will walk away from the NFL again.

McClain told ESPN’s Seth Wickersham via text message that he’s retiring for good this time, after initially announcing his retirement last May. McClain’s announcement comes a month after saying that he would return to the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens this season.

McClain was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft out of the University of Alabama. He was released by the Raiders last April after being arrested three times since entering the league.

McClain totaled 246 tackles and 6.5 sacks in three seasons with the Raiders.
