Nick Swisher showed off his Buckeye Pride on Friday night.

Swisher led his Cleveland Indians to a 7-2 home-opener win against the Minnesota Twins on Friday with a two-run home run in the sixth inning. The first baseman celebrated his homer with an Ohio crowd favorite, the O-H-I-O cheer forĀ “THE” Ohio State University.

Undrafted out of high school, Swisher playedĀ withĀ theĀ Ohio State Buckeyes for two years and was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2000.

Swisher has previously played for the Oakland Athletics, Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees, but he is clearly happy to have ended up in Cleveland.

As he said to Progressive Field fans when the game concluded, “Happy Bro-Opening Day.”
