John Lackey Wins Amica Pitcher Of The Week Honors For Six-Strikeout Start

John LackeyJohn Lackey started off the season right for the Boston Red Sox.

The righty earned Amica Pitcher of the Week honors for his season-debut performance on Wednesday. Lackey earned the win after striking out six batters and allowing just three hits and one walk in six innings against the Baltimore Orioles.

Lackey had a bounce-back season in 2013, when he had a 3.52 ERA while striking out 161 batters in 189 1/3 innings. He missed the entire 2012 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Lackey’s next start is on Monday night, when the Red Sox take on the Texas Rangers at Fenway Park.
