Roy Hibbert, Kris HumphriesWALTHAM, Mass. — Kris Humphries will not travel with the team to Wednesday’s road game against the Atlanta Hawks, and he could be out a while longer, depending on the results of an MRI, Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens said.

Humphries has an MRI scheduled for Wednesday morning to take a closer look at his right knee. The team has termed the soreness, which kept him out of Saturday’s game, as tendinitis, but the scan should help allay any fears that it is any worse.

Stevens reiterated that there has been no discussion of shutting down any players for the remainder of the season, Humphries included.

“If he’s able to play, he’s going to play,” Stevens said. “That’s just kind of the way we’ve approached it all year. We want to be overly cautious if he’s got an issue, and clearly he’s not feeling good right now. Hopefully, the MRI reveals it’s nothing and he can play at least a couple more games throughout the rest of the season.”

Meanwhile, Avery Bradley and Jared Sullinger both practiced Tuesday and should play Wednesday, Stevens said. Bradley has dealt with chronic right ankle and Achilles problems, which have forced him to miss the last three games. Sullinger, who was kneed in the right thigh when Greg Monroe attempted a layup Saturday, said he does not intend to miss any more time than he needs to in the final five games of the regular season.

“One, this is (only) my second year,” Sullinger said. “And two, I want to finish the season out strong. There’s never been a quitter inside me, so I want to finish the season out strong.”

Rajon Rondo also said nothing has changed with his system of sitting out the second end of back-to-backs, so he does not plan to play this Saturday in Cleveland.
