Logan Mankins isn’t spending too much time worrying about the comments Brandon Spikes has made since parting the New England Patriots.

Spikes has tweeted up a storm since signing with the Buffalo Bills this offseason, and one of the linebacker’s more controversial social media posts involved him guaranteeing two wins over the Patriots this season.

Mankins said Thursday during availability with the media at Gillette Stadium that Spikes has always had a sense of humor, so maybe the former Patriot was just kidding.

“I don’t pay too much attention to the media anyway, so I’ve only heard guys joking around about what he said,” Mankins said. “But I think it’s just Brandon being Brandon. He has a pretty good sense of humor, I think. Well, I don’t know if it’s good. But he likes to make jokes. I don’t know if he was joking or being serious, but that’s just Spikes being Spikes.”

Spikes wasn’t the only player with a parting shot for the Patriots. Former New England cornerback Aqib Talib, who signed with the Denver Broncos as a free agent, criticized how the Patriots report their players’ injuries.

“Everyone has their own opinions and everyone likes to think they know it all,” Mankins said. “It doesn’t really bother me too much. I know what we have here. I know the owner very well now, over the years. And I know the head coach and those guys, they care about the team, they care about winning football games. What anyone says, it kind of rolls off our backs. We know what we have here.”

The Patriots replaced Talib with All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis. Second-year pro Jamie Collins is expected to replace Spikes at linebacker.
