ult.warriorShortly following the unexpected death of the Ultimate Warrior on Tuesday, Miami Marlins’ first baseman Garrett Jones decided to honor the WWE legend by using the wrestler’s theme song as his walk-up music from now until the end of the season.

The Warrior, whose name was James Hellwig, inspired Jones from a young age.

“The Ultimate Warrior was my number one favorite. I was a huge wrestling fan,” Jones told TMZ. “What he said was motivational. His energy … it inspired me.”

Jones only intended to use the Warrior’s theme music the day after he passed away, but it felt so right that he opted to keep it for the rest of the season.

“It sounds silly, but you grow up and become an athlete and that sticks with you,” Jones said. “You can apply the things he said to life.”
