OK, so the play Washington Nationals outfielder Kevin Frandsen made Tuesday night wasn’t technically a “catch.” But it still was one of the more impressive fielding displays we’ve seen this season.

While playing left field at Houston’s Minute Maid Park — a field known for its quirky outfield dimensions — Frandsen ranged back toward the wall in the third inning to track a fly ball off the bat of Astros catcher Jason Castro. The ball hit halfway up the wall, but as Frandsen turned to play the carom, it somehow bounced directly into his outstretched glove.

Frandsen had the presence of mind to quickly fire the ball back into the infield, holding Dexter Fowler at third base and robbing Castro of an RBI.

Both runners scored soon after when UConn product George Springer’s two-out single cleared the bases, but the Nats later scored one run in the eighth and another in the ninth to secure a 4-3, come-from-behind win.
