Patrick Kane changed the complexion of the Western Conference quarterfinals with one shot Wednesday night.

The Chicago Blackhawks sniper fired the game-winning goal past St. Louis Blues goalie Ryan Miller in overtime, giving the Blackhawks a 4-3 victory and evening up the best-of-seven Stanley Cup playoff series at two games apiece.

The defending Stanley Cup champs dropped the first two games of the series in St. Louis — both in overtime — but rallied to win the next two at the United Center, setting up what amounts to a best-of-three set for the chance to advance to the conference semis.

Kane’s overtime winner was his second goal of the game (he also lit the lamp with a second-period wrister off assists from Johnny Oduya and Jonathan Toews) and his team-leading third tally of the series.

The teams now head back to St. Louis, where they’ll face off in Game 5 on Friday.
