PawSoxThe Pawtucket Red Sox will honor their local police and fire departments in a special way next Saturday.

When the PawSox travel to Allentown, Pa., to take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on April 26, they also will participate in “Heroes Night,” in which both teams will pay tribute to local fire, police and EMS personnel.

The festivities kick off with an exhibition softball game between the Allentown Police and Fire Departments at 4 p.m., followed by the actual game at 6:35 p.m.

The PawSox and IronPigs will rock some unique jerseys for the occasion, with the IronPigs donning their city police department’s blue and silver and Pawtucket representing its city’s fire department with some red and yellow threads.

The creative uniforms also feature both teams’ logos built into the shields of the police and fire departments of Allentown and Pawtucket.

To top it all off, the jerseys will be auctioned off during that night’s game, with the proceeds going directly to various Allentown charities.
