Pete Carroll has become somewhat of a prankster over the course of his coaching career, so it came as no surprise when he added to the reputation Monday on April Fools’ Day.

Carroll’s latest prank involved the Wisconsin men’s basketball team — in the midst of preparing for its Final Four game against Kentucky — and Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Seahawks head coach tweeted that Wilson was invited to practice with the Badgers, even going as far as to add a picture of Wilson playing high school basketball.

Even Wisconsin’s athletic director Barry Alvarez was in on the joke, calling in to 710 AM ESPN Seattle to endorse the ploy. It was, of course, a ruse, and Carroll later called the radio station to yell “April Fools!”

Thankfully for Seahawks fans, they’ll only have to worry about their star quarterback being a two-sport athlete.
