Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Travis Snider’s face does not catch popups nearly as well as his glove.

During the fourth inning of Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Reds, Snider attempted to make a sliding catch near the right field foul line, only to have the fly ball just miss his glove and instead nail him right in the jaw. The play was initially ruled a foul ball, but to add insult to injury, a review determined that the ball hit Snider’s face in fair territory, and Todd Frazier therefore was granted a double.

Fortunately, Snider was OK and remained in the game. It didn’t take long for him to exact revenge, either, as he launched a home run in the next half-inning. Hey, if the ball hits him, it’s only fair he gets to hit the ball.

Check out the painful play in the GIF below, with a hat tip to SB Nation.
