Chris JohnsonThe New York Jets could add a three-time Pro Bowl selection to their running back stable.

Former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson is visiting the Jets on Tuesday, team sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This is Johnson’s first free-agent visit since being released by the Titans on April 4.

The Jets showed interest in trading for Johnson before he was released, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday. Rapoport tweeted that he wouldn’t be surprised if the Jets signed the 2009 first-team All-Pro.

The Jets currently have running backs Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell atop their depth chart. Johnson rushed for 1,077 yards on 279 carries with six touchdowns in 2013. He added 345 yards and four touchdowns on 42 receptions.

Johnson originally was selected by the Titans No. 24 overall in the 2008 NFL draft. He holds the NFL Scouting Combine record in the 40-yard dash with a time of 4.24 seconds.
