Colin Kaepernick, Two Other NFL Players Investigated In Suspicious Incident

Colin KaepernickSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is being investigated for a “suspicious incident” in Miami, according to a police incident report.

Charges have not been filed against Kaepernick, and the investigation is in its “beginning stages,” sources told TMZ.

Kaepernick has been in talks with the 49ers about a possible contract extension, as the quarterback is entering the last year of his rookie contract.

Kaepernick led the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game during the 2013 season, where they lost to their division rival Seattle Seahawks. Kaepernick and the 49ers lost Super Bowl XLVII to the Baltimore Ravens at the end of the 2012 NFL season.

UPDATE 12:47 p.m.: 49ers general manager Trent Baalke released the following statement“The 49ers organization is aware of the recent media report regarding Colin Kaepernick and is in the process of gathering the pertinent facts.”

UPDATE 1:13 p.m.: There are two other NFL players involved in the investigation.

UPDATE 1:31 p.m.: The alleged incident took place on April 1 at Ricardo Lockette’s apartment, police told The Sacramento Bee.

A woman went to the apartment and drank and smoked marijuana with the players, the police report said. She went to a bedroom, feeling lightheaded, and was joined by Kaepernick, “with whom she had a sexual relationship in the past.” Kaepernick left the bedroom and the two did not have sex, the woman said.

The woman woke up the next morning in a hospital bed, not recalling the events of the previous night, the report stated, according to The Bee. The woman reported the incident to police on April 3.
