Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia told the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo that he received “great news” after team doctors examined his injured left wrist Monday.
Pedroia didn’t elaborate on what doctors told him, but the Globe, ESPN Boston and Boston Herald all cited sources in reporting that the second baseman did not have a serious injury.
The Red Sox haven’t yet confirmed Pedroia’s status. Pedroia returned to Boston for testing on his wrist, and the Red Sox resume play Tuesday night with a three-game series in Chicago against the White Sox.
Pedroia was a late scratch in Sunday night’s game against the New York Yankees after reporting soreness in the wrist. Pedroia injured it on a takeout play at second base during the ninth inning of Boston’s home opener April 4, according to Red Sox manager John Farrell.
