Oscar PistoriusOscar Pistorius has been visibly emotional during his trial for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

The amputee and former Olympic runner might find himself in hot water in light of recent allegations that he received acting lessons from a top South African actor before the trial.

In an open letter to Pistorius posted on her blog, prominent South African journalist Jani Allan accused Pistorius of taking acting lessons from a “close friend” of Allan’s to prepare for his testimony in court.

“I have it from a reliable source that you are taking acting lessons for your days in court,” Allan wrote. “Your coach has an impossible task.”

Allan, who emigrated to the United States in 2001 and currently resides in New Jersey, continued by telling Pistorius “you have betrayed your people and disappointed your fans” and calling him “the latest in a long line of faux heroes.”

Pistorius has pleaded not guilty to charges that he murdered Steenkamp in February 2013, claiming he shot her in self-defense after mistaking her for a burglar.

If convicted, the 27-year-old South African faces 25 years to life in prison.
