Ryan Dempster is taking the year off from pitching at the professional level, but he hasn’t entirely left the game.
The former Boston Red Sox right-hander was spotted Thursday at Wrigley Field, where he pitched for nine seasons as a member of the Chicago Cubs.
Anyone who knows Dempster can tell you he’s not the type for luxury boxes, so he took in the Cubs’ game against the Pittsburgh Pirates from the cheap seats. One thing separated the pitcher from the rest of the bleacher bums, though: that big, shiny World Series ring on his finger.
