San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith got into trouble again Sunday, this time at LAX in Los Angeles.

“Law enforcement says the drama began at the security gate — when he was randomly selected for a secondary screening,” per a report from TMZ. “Cops say Smith became “belligerent and uncooperative with the process and with the TSA agent making a comment indicating that he was in possession of a bomb before proceeding toward the gate area.”

The former Pro Bowler also was arrested, per the report.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided some additional information.

“We are disappointed to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith,” the 49ers said in a statement released Sunday. “As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment.”

This isn’t Smith’s first off-the-field issue. He missed the first five games of the 2013 NFL season while seeking voluntary treatment for substance abuse.

Smith posted 8.5 sacks and 34 tackles in 11 games last season. He tallied 3.5 sacks, 11 tackles and a forced fumble in three playoff games. The 49ers lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game.
