The verbal backlash to Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s alleged racist remarks has been swift and harsh, as Sterling has been condemned by the likes of Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and even the President of the United States.

Now, Sterling’s comments are starting to have very real consequences.

According to The Big Lead, Steve Stoute, the CEO of a marketing firm with State Farm as a client, went on ESPN radio host Colin Cowherd’s morning show on Monday and announced that he is advising clients associated with the Clippers to pull their sponsorship of the team.

“State Farm is pulling out, and other brands are pulling out,” Stoute told Cowherd. “We’re going to start seeing it over the next 48 hours.”

The loss of State Farm’s sponsorship, which has yet to be officially announced, will represent the first tangible repercussion for Sterling, who is being investigated by the NBA for his alleged racist comments and could receive punishment as early as this week.
