Tracy McGrady, coming to a baseball diamond near you.
The former NBA star has made very public his desire to play professional baseball after hanging up his sneakers for good last August.
He came closer to realizing that goal Wednesday night, making his first in-game appearance as the starting pitcher for the independent Sugar Land Skeeters in an exhibition game against Alvin Community College.

The good news is that the Skeeters won handily 10-1. The bad news? McGrady surrendered the only run.
The 6-foot, 8-inch right-hander allowed three hits and one run but threw nine of 15 pitches for strikes in his only inning of action.
It wasn’t a slam-dunk outing for McGrady, yet the 34-year-old hopes his performance is enough for him to make the official Skeeters roster when the team officially begins its season April 24. The Skeeters currently have 34 players on their roster and will open the season with 27, according to Houston’s KHOU.com.
