New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty deserves an assist for bringing Vince Wilfork back to the team.

McCourty was in Florida with Wilfork last week when the big nose tackle signed his contract extension with the Patriots.

McCourty included the caption “Took the flight to FLA to seal the deal…” on his Instagram photo.

McCourty wouldn’t divulge how he convinced Wilfork to return.

“I can’t tell the details of my negotiating skills,” McCourty told the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe on Wednesday at The Greater Boston Food Bank. “I’m the guy that brings in the Rutgers guys and keeps the vets.”

McCourty’s last big assist came during the Patriots’ Week 8 win over the Miami Dolphins, when he tipped a Ryan Tannehill pass back to cornerback Marquice Cole for an interception.
