Before playing their first home game of the 2014 season, the Boston Red Sox were awarded their 2013 World Series championship rings.
The ceremony included an array of Boston heroes, from survivors and heroes of the Boston Marathon bombings to Jason Varitek, Mark Recchi and Troy Brown.
Lots of championship hardware was on display, too, with an array of trophies from the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and Red Sox’s previous championships all making an appearance.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh threw out the first pitch, and David Ortiz might have given out more high-fives than Koji Uehara during the ceremony, which culminated some of baseball fans’ favorite words.
