7:10 p.m.: Mr. Irrelevant, the title given to the player selected last in the NFL draft, is Memphis safety Lonnie Ballentine, who is the 256th overall choice by the Houston Texans.
The Mr. Irrelevant tradition dates to 1976, and Ballentine will be feted in Newport Beach, Calif., with a parade and dinners, among other things.
That’s it for the 2014 NFL draft, which took 14 hours and 55 minutes to complete at Radio City Music Hall.

6:58 p.m.: The Atlanta Falcons use the 253rd pick on UConn linebacker Yawin Smallwood. Lots of New Englanders being picked on Day 3.
6:56 p.m.: Two more picks are in: Northern Illinois defensive tackle Ken Bishop to the Dallas Cowboys at No. 251 and Georgia Southern defensive back Lavelle Westbrooks to the Cincinnati Bengals at No. 252.
6:48 p.m.: Michael Sam is a St. Louis Ram, going to them with the 249th overall pick. The announcement drew applause from the small crowd still here at Radio City Music Hall.
Sam, the Missouri pass rusher, becomes the first openly gay player in the NFL. He revealed his sexuality after he completed his senior season with the Tigers.
Former NFL punter Chris Kluwe, who has stood by Sam after the pass rusher came out, was relieved but not satisfied by the pick.

Missouri pass rusher Michael Sam, who would become the first openly gay NFL player, still hasn’t been selected, with 28 picks to go. That isn’t sitting well with former NFL punter Chris Kluwe, who has been outspoken about gay rights.

The Philadelphia Eagles take Wisconsin defensive tackle Beau Allen (No. 224), the Minnesota Vikings select North Carolina cornerback Jabari Price (No. 225), the St. Louis Rams grab Portland State offensive tackle Mitchell Van Dyk (No. 226) and the Seattle Seahawks choose Arkansas running back Kiero Small (No. 227).

5:43 p.m.: The Jacksonville Jaguars used their last pick to reunite college teammates. Central Florida running back Storm Johnson was the pick at No. 222 overall, and he’ll play again with former Knights quarterback Blake Bortles, who was the Jaguars’ first-round selection.
5:41 p.m.: The Buffalo Bills pick Florida Atlantic linebacker Randall Johnson No. 221 overall.

That deal came one pick after the Washington Redskins took Indiana tight end Ted Bolser No. 217 overall.
5:30 p.m.: The Houston Texans kick off the seventh and final round by picking Vanderbilt cornerback Andre Hal No. 216 overall.
5:25 p.m.: The St. Louis Rams pick SMU quarterback Garrett Gilbert No. 214 overall.
Gilbert famously struggled at Texas after taking over for Colt McCoy, then transferred to SMU, where he had a little more success. Gilbert has a good chance at winning a job in St. Louis, where Sam Bradford and Austin Davis are the only QBs on the roster.
It’s also ironic that Gilbert was drafted before any Texas player this year.
The Pittsburgh Steelers conclude the sixth round by taking Tennessee defensive end Daniel McCullers with the 215th pick.
5:24 p.m.: The New York Jets drafted a quarterback for the second consecutive year, taking Clemson’s Tajh Boyd with the 213th overall pick.
Boyd will provide depth behind last year’s second-round pick, Geno Smith, and veteran backup Michael Vick. Boyd might have to beat out Matt Simms for the No. 3 job.
5:18 p.m.: The Cincinnati Bengals pick Arizona linebacker Marquis Flowers No. 212 overall.
5:15 p.m.: The Houston Texans pick Auburn running back Jay Prosch No. 211 overall. Prosch replaced another Auburn player, Ben Tate, who left the Texans for the Cleveland Browns in free agency.
5:15 p.m.: The New York Jets use back-to-back picks (Nos. 209 and 210) on Nebraska wide receiver Quincy Enunwa and Louisiana Tech linebacker IK Enemkpali, respectively.
Those picks came after the Denver Broncos selected Boise State center Matthew Paradis No. 207 overall and the Seattle Seahawks took San Diego State safety Eric Pinkins at No. 208.
5:01 p.m.: The New England Patriots address defense by picking Georgia Tech cornerback Jemea Thomas No. 206 overall. The Patriots are deep in the secondary, but you never can be too deep there in a pass-happy NFL.
The Patriots have one more scheduled pick in this draft, at No. 244 in the seventh round.
4:59 p.m.: The Jacksonville Jaguars use the sixth-round pick they acquired from the San Francisco 49ers in the Blaine Gabbert trade to take Virginia center Luke Bowanko at No. 205 overall. Longtime Jaguar Brad Meester retired after last season — he’s doing it fashionably, too — and although Mike Brewster is expected to start at center, depth there doesn’t hurt.
4:58 p.m.: Stanford running back Tyler Gaffney goes to a Carolina Panthers team that’s thin on offensive weapons with the 204th overall pick.
4:56 p.m.: The Indianapolis Colts pick Western Kentucky linebacker Andrew Jackson No. 203 overall.

4:17 p.m.: The Miami Dolphins pick Coastal Carolina wide receiver Matt Hazel No. 190 overall. He’s the second receiver for Miami in this draft, after Jarvis Landry was picked in the second round.
4:13 p.m.: T.J. Jones becomes the eighth Notre Dame player selected in this draft, going to the Detroit Lions with the 189th overall pick.

Norwood could be a steal in the fourth round. He’s fast and shifty for a 6-foot-2, 198-pound wideout.
1:13 p.m.: The Tennessee Titans grab Wyoming cornerback Marqueston Huff No. 122 overall. Huff could be moved to safety in the NFL.
1:10 p.m.:Â The Green Bay Packers pick Arizona State linebacker Carl Bradford with the No. 121 overall pick.
Bradford was thought of as a potential Day 2 pick by some draft analysts. He can rush off the edge and play stand-up linebacker, though he’s slightly undersized at 6-foot-1.
1:05 p.m.: The Arizona Cardinals select Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas with the No. 120 overall pick. Thomas is a freak athlete, and was projected by some analysts as a tight end convert.
Thomas struggled during his college career, but he has the tools, speed and agility to be a star if Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians and quarterback coach Freddie Kitchens can put the pieces together.
If Thomas can’t play quarterback, the Cardinals landed a great athlete.
1:03 p.m.: The Dallas Cowboys select Iowa linebacker Anthony Hitchens with the No. 119 overall pick.
1:01 p.m.: The Pittsburgh Steelers find a steal in Clemson receiver Martavis Bryant with the 118th overall pick. Bryant is 6-foot-4 and 211 pounds with 4.42 speed.
12:58 p.m.: The Chicago Bears grab Arizona running back Ka’Deem Carey with the 117th overall pick. Carey timed slowly at the NFL Scouting Combine, but he’s a shifty back with great hands out of the backfield.
12:54 p.m.: The Oakland Raiders pick Utah cornerback Keith McGill No. 116 overall.
12:51 p.m.: The New York Jets address their receiver need by taking UCLA’s Shaq Evans No. 115 overall.
12:46 p.m.: The Jacksonville Jaguars pick Oklahoma cornerback Aaron Colvin No. 114 overall. Colvin tore his ACL at the Senior Bowl, but he graded as a second-round pick before that, according to The Florida Times-Union’s Hays Carlyon.

12:38 p.m.: The Seattle Seahawks trade the 111th pick to the Cincinnati Bengals, who select North Carolina center Russell Bodine. The Seahawks receive a fourth-round pick (No. 123) and a sixth-rounder (No. 199) in the deal.

12:24 p.m.: The San Francisco 49ers continue to boost their receiving corps, using the 106th pick on South Carolina wide receiver Bruce Ellington. The 49ers acquired Stevie Johnson from the Buffalo Bills on Friday.
12:21 p.m.: The New England Patriots selected Florida State offensive lineman Bryan Stork with the 105th pick. Stork played center at Florida State. He’s 6-foot-4, 315 pounds and was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine.

Noon:: The third day of the 2014 NFL draft has arrived, and the New England Patriots will be very busy.
The Patriots have seven picks on Day 3, with three in the fourth round, three in the sixth round and one in the seventh round. The Patriots don’t have a fifth-round pick right now, but that always could change, of course, with a trade.
Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, Clemson wide receiver Martavis Bryant and Lindenwood cornerback Pierre Desir are among the top available players.
