2014 NFL Draft Day 3 Live: Michael Sam Picked By Rams In Seventh Round

by

May 10, 2014

NFL Draft7:10 p.m.: Mr. Irrelevant, the title given to the player selected last in the NFL draft, is Memphis safety Lonnie Ballentine, who is the 256th overall choice by the Houston Texans.

The Mr. Irrelevant tradition dates to 1976, and Ballentine will be feted in Newport Beach, Calif., with a parade and dinners, among other things.

That’s it for the 2014 NFL draft, which took 14 hours and 55 minutes to complete at Radio City Music Hall.

7:04 p.m.: The Houston Texans are on the clock with the final pick of the 2014 NFL draft.

The Atlanta Falcons pick South Dakota linebacker Tyler Starr No. 255 overall, setting up the Texans to choose Mr. Irrelevant.

7:02 p.m.: And then there were two.

The Dallas Cowboys pick Oregon cornerback Terrance Mitchell at No. 254, leaving the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans to close the 2014 NFL draft with their selections.

6:58 p.m.: The Atlanta Falcons use the 253rd pick on UConn linebacker Yawin Smallwood. Lots of New Englanders being picked on Day 3.

6:56 p.m.: Two more picks are in: Northern Illinois defensive tackle Ken Bishop to the Dallas Cowboys at No. 251 and Georgia Southern defensive back Lavelle Westbrooks to the Cincinnati Bengals at No. 252.

6:48 p.m.: Michael Sam is a St. Louis Ram, going to them with the 249th overall pick. The announcement drew applause from the small crowd still here at Radio City Music Hall.

Sam, the Missouri pass rusher, becomes the first openly gay player in the NFL. He revealed his sexuality after he completed his senior season with the Tigers.

Former NFL punter Chris Kluwe, who has stood by Sam after the pass rusher came out, was relieved but not satisfied by the pick.

The Rams also had the next pick and used it on Tennessee State center Demetrius Rhaney.

6:45 p.m.: The Dallas Cowboys pick Baylor safety Ahmad Dixon No. 248 overall. Five Baylor players have been drafted, all in the fifth round or later.

6:43 p.m.: The Oakland Raiders pick Western Kentucky safety Jonathan Dowling No. 247 overall.

The Dallas Cowboys, who own three of the final nine picks, are on the clock. And Michael Sam still is on the board.

6:41 p.m.: The San Francisco 49ers pick Oklahoma running back Trey Millard No. 245 overall. The Chicago Bears quickly follow by selecting Boise State offensive tackle Charles Leno at No. 246.

6:36 p.m.: Tom Brady has a new weapon, and he’s a Michigan man, too.

The New England Patriots took Wolverines wide receiver Jeremy Gallon with their last pick in the 2014 NFL draft (No. 244 overall). Gallon is a slot receiver who will be a 24-year-old rookie.

6:31 p.m.: Boston College defensive end Kaleb Ramsey is moving across the country after the San Francisco 49ers take him No. 243 overall.

The New England Patriots are on the clock.

6:29 p.m.: The Denver Broncos pick Oklahoma linebacker Corey Nelson No. 242 overall.

6:27 p.m.: The St. Louis Rams pick Ohio State defensive back Christian Bryant No. 241 overall.

Fifteen picks to go. Michael Sam remains on the board, and Twitter is abuzz about the possibility he might not be drafted.

6:25 p.m.: Teams are picking like they have dinner reservations. The latest to be filed: Texas Tech linebacker Will Smith to the Dallas Cowboys (No. 238 overall), LSU wide receiver James Wright to the Cincinnati Bengals (No. 239) and Baylor wide receiver Tevin Reese to the San Diego Chargers (No. 240).

6:21 p.m.: The Buffalo Bills roll the dice at No. 237, taking Miami offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson, who didn’t finish his pro-day workout and reportedly failed a drug test at the NFL Scouting Combine. Puzzling move for a struggling team that needs certainty, not drama.

6:19 p.m.: The Green Bay Packers use the 236th overall pick on Saginaw Valley State wide receiver Jeff Janis, who was a star at the NFL Scouting Combine. He could be a late-round find for Aaron Rodgers and Co.

6:15 p.m.: The Oakland Raiders pick Illinois State defensive end Shelby Harris No. 235 overall.

6:13 p.m.: AFC East rivals make back-to-back picks, as the New York Jets pick Utah linebacker Trevor Reilly No. 233 overall, and the Miami Dolphins select Marist defensive end Terrence Fede 234th.

6:05 p.m.: The Indianapolis Colts pick Georgia State offensive tackle Ulrick John No. 232 overall.

6:03 p.m.: The Dallas Cowboys pick Stanford defensive end Ben Gardner No. 231 overall, making him the sixth Cardinal player to be drafted.

6:01 p.m.: A second consecutive New Englander is drafted, as UMass tight end Rob Branchflower is picked No. 230 overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

5:58 p.m.: A run on kickers! Boston College’s Nate Freese goes to the Detroit Lions with the 229th overall pick. John Potter and Giorgio Tavecchio are the kickers currently on Detroit’s roster, so Freese seems to have a solid shot at winning the job.

5:55 p.m.: The Washington Redskins pick Arkansas kicker Zach Hocker No. 228 overall, making him just the second specialist selected.

Missouri pass rusher Michael Sam, who would become the first openly gay NFL player, still hasn’t been selected, with 28 picks to go. That isn’t sitting well with former NFL punter Chris Kluwe, who has been outspoken about gay rights.

5:53 p.m.: The picks are rolling in quickly now. The Philadelphia Eagles take Wisconsin defensive tackle Beau Allen (No. 224), the Minnesota Vikings select North Carolina cornerback Jabari Price (No. 225), the St. Louis Rams grab Portland State offensive tackle Mitchell Van Dyk (No. 226) and the Seattle Seahawks choose Arkansas running back Kiero Small (No. 227).

5:45 p.m.: Georgia Tech linebacker Brandon Watts goes to the Minnesota Vikings with the 223rd overall pick.

5:43 p.m.: The Jacksonville Jaguars used their last pick to reunite college teammates. Central Florida running back Storm Johnson was the pick at No. 222 overall, and he’ll play again with former Knights quarterback Blake Bortles, who was the Jaguars’ first-round selection.

5:41 p.m.: The Buffalo Bills pick Florida Atlantic linebacker Randall Johnson No. 221 overall.

5:36 p.m.: The Minnesota Vikings pick UConn nose tackle Shamar Stephen No. 220 overall.

5:36 p.m.: The Oakland Raiders pick Ohio cornerback T.J. Carrie No. 219 overall.

5:34 p.m.: The Baltimore Ravens trade back into the draft and pick Wake Forest wide receiver Michael Campanaro No. 218 overall. The speedy slot receiver cost the Ravens their 2015 sixth-round pick, which they shipped to the AFC North rival Cleveland Browns.

That deal came one pick after the Washington Redskins took Indiana tight end Ted Bolser No. 217 overall.

5:30 p.m.: The Houston Texans kick off the seventh and final round by picking Vanderbilt cornerback Andre Hal No. 216 overall.

5:25 p.m.: The St. Louis Rams pick SMU quarterback Garrett Gilbert No. 214 overall.

Gilbert famously struggled at Texas after taking over for Colt McCoy, then transferred to SMU, where he had a little more success. Gilbert has a good chance at winning a job in St. Louis, where Sam Bradford and Austin Davis are the only QBs on the roster.

It’s also ironic that Gilbert was drafted before any Texas player this year.

The Pittsburgh Steelers conclude the sixth round by taking Tennessee defensive end Daniel McCullers with the 215th pick.

5:24 p.m.: The New York Jets drafted a quarterback for the second consecutive year, taking Clemson’s Tajh Boyd with the 213th overall pick.

Boyd will provide depth behind last year’s second-round pick, Geno Smith, and veteran backup Michael Vick. Boyd might have to beat out Matt Simms for the No. 3 job.

5:18 p.m.: The Cincinnati Bengals pick Arizona linebacker Marquis Flowers No. 212 overall.

5:15 p.m.: The Houston Texans pick Auburn running back Jay Prosch No. 211 overall. Prosch replaced another Auburn player, Ben Tate, who left the Texans for the Cleveland Browns in free agency.

5:15 p.m.: The New York Jets use back-to-back picks (Nos. 209 and 210) on Nebraska wide receiver Quincy Enunwa and Louisiana Tech linebacker IK Enemkpali, respectively.

Those picks came after the Denver Broncos selected Boise State center Matthew Paradis No. 207 overall and the Seattle Seahawks took San Diego State safety Eric Pinkins at No. 208.

5:01 p.m.: The New England Patriots address defense by picking Georgia Tech cornerback Jemea Thomas No. 206 overall. The Patriots are deep in the secondary, but you never can be too deep there in a pass-happy NFL.

The Patriots have one more scheduled pick in this draft, at No. 244 in the seventh round.

4:59 p.m.: The Jacksonville Jaguars use the sixth-round pick they acquired from the San Francisco 49ers in the Blaine Gabbert trade to take Virginia center Luke Bowanko at No. 205 overall. Longtime Jaguar Brad Meester retired after last season — he’s doing it fashionably, too — and although Mike Brewster is expected to start at center, depth there doesn’t hurt.

4:58 p.m.: Stanford running back Tyler Gaffney goes to a Carolina Panthers team that’s thin on offensive weapons with the 204th overall pick.

4:56 p.m.: The Indianapolis Colts pick Western Kentucky linebacker Andrew Jackson No. 203 overall.

4:52 p.m.: The New Orleans Saints pick Kansas State offensive tackle Tavon Rooks No. 202 overall. Their draft is done.

4:49 p.m.: The San Diego Chargers pick Arizona State running back Marion Grice No. 201 overall.

4:47 p.m.: The Kansas City Chiefs pick McGill offensive tackle Laurent Duvernay-Tardif No. 200 overall. Just 56 picks left in this draft.

4:45 p.m.: Tom Brady was picked 199th in an NFL draft. Now Marshall offensive tackle Garrett Scott has, too, going to the Seattle Seahawks.

4:41 p.m.: The New England Patriots pick Concordia defensive lineman Zach Moore No. 198 overall. Concordia is a Division II school, and Moore was projected anywhere from the fourth round to the seventh by analysts.

4:37 p.m.: Baylor cornerback Demetri Goodson goes to the Green Bay Packers with the 197th overall pick.

The New England Patriots now are on the clock.

4:33 p.m.: The Arizona Cardinals pick Murray State wide receiver Walter Powell No. 196 overall.

4:31 p.m.: The New York Jets pick Northwest Missouri State cornerback Brandon Dixon No. 195 overall. The Jets also took a cornerback — Maryland’s Dexter McDougle — in the third round.

4:29 p.m.: Ball State quarterback Keith Wenning goes to the Baltimore Ravens with the 194th overall pick. The Ravens could use some QB depth behind starter Joe Flacco and backup Tyrod Taylor.

4:24 p.m.: The Kansas City Chiefs pick Tennessee guard Zach Fulton No. 193 overall.

4:21 p.m.: UCLA linebacker Jordan Zumwalt goes to the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 192nd overall pick.

4:18 p.m.: Punters are draftees, too! Miami punter Pat O’Donnell becomes the first specialist off the board when the Chicago Bears take him 191st overall. O’Donnell is the third punter on the Bears’ roster, behind ex-Pittsburgh Steeler Drew Butler and ex-Oklahoma standout Tress Way.

4:17 p.m.: The Miami Dolphins pick Coastal Carolina wide receiver Matt Hazel No. 190 overall. He’s the second receiver for Miami in this draft, after Jarvis Landry was picked in the second round.

4:13 p.m.: T.J. Jones becomes the eighth Notre Dame player selected in this draft, going to the Detroit Lions with the 189th overall pick.

4:11 p.m.: Three more picks are in. The Washington Redskins take Baylor running back Lache Seastrunk No. 185 overall, the New York Giants pick Notre Dame cornerback Bennett Jackson No. 186 overall and the St. Louis Rams go with Missouri cornerback E.J. Gaines at No. 187.

4:04 p.m.: Maine cornerback Kendall James goes to the Minnesota Vikings with the 184th overall pick. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers use the No. 185 pick on Wyoming wide receiver Robert Herron.

4:01 p.m.: Jay Cutler will have some more company in the Chicago Bears’ quarterback room this summer. The Bears used the 183rd overall pick on San Jose State QB David Fales, who led a high-octane attack in college.

3:59 p.m.: The Minnesota Vikings pick Virginia Tech cornerback Antone Exum No. 182 overall.

3:58 p.m.: The Houston Texans pick LSU running back Alfred Blue No. 181 overall.

3:54 p.m.: The San Francisco 49ers pick SMU cornerback Kenneth Acker No. 180 overall.

3:51 p.m.: Another offensive lineman (and another former Florida Gator) for the New England Patriots, who pick Jon Halapio No. 179 overall. Halapio is the third O-lineman and the second ex-Gator the Patriots have picked in this draft.

New England has two more picks — Nos. 198 and 206 — in the sixth round.

3:49 p.m.: Zach Mettenberger’s long wait is over. The Tennessee Titans take the LSU quarterback No. 178 overall, adding him to a signal-caller group that includes Jake Locker, Charlie Whitehurst and Tyler Wilson. Not exactly the strongest competition.

The Titans must have liked what they saw in Mettenberger since they traded up eight spots to take him, giving up a sixth-round pick (No. 186) and a seventh-round pick (No. 228) to the Washington Redskins in the process.

3:45 p.m.: Another Alabama defensive end is off the board. Jeoffrey Pagan goes to the Houston Texans at No. 177 overall.

3:42 p.m.: The Green Bay Packers grab a Wisconsin wideout at No. 176 overall. Jared Abbrederis stays in his home state.

3:39 p.m.: The Baltimore Ravens pick Penn State center John Urschel, who received a master’s degree in mathematics, maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

3:36 p.m.: USC linebacker Devon Kennard goes to the New York Giants at No. 174 overall.

3:33 p.m.: The Pittsburgh Steelers grab Vanderbilt offensive lineman Wesley Johnson — who New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick privately worked out before running his half marathon — at No. 173 overall.

3:31 p.m.: The Seattle Seahawks pick Middle Tennessee defensive tackle Jimmy Staten No. 172 overall. Staten is a complete unknown here at NESN.com.

3:29 p.m.:: The Miami Dolphins take Montana linebacker Jordan Tripp at No. 171 overall. Patriots fans were clamoring for Tripp, and now he winds up with a division rival.

3:26 p.m.: The San Francisco 49ers continue their strong draft by picking Florida Atlantic cornerback Keith Reaser No. 170 overall. He tore his ACL this spring and could be “redshirted” with a season on the non-football injury list.

3:24 p.m.: The New Orleans Saints pick Florida linebacker Ronald Powell No. 169 overall.

3:21 p.m.: The Atlanta Falcons grab Syracuse linebacker Marquis Sprull No. 168 overall.

3:19 p.m.: The New Orleans Saints pick Alabama safety Vinnie Sunseri No. 167 overall.

Lots of mashups being played at Radio City Music Hall right now.

3:16 p.m.: Ball State linebacker Jonathan Newsome goes to the Indianapolis Colts at No. 166 overall.

3:14 p.m.: The San Diego Chargers grab Arkansas State nose tackle Ryan Carrethers No. 165 overall.

3:11 p.m.: Quarterbacks go back to back in the fifth round, as Alabama’s AJ McCarron is selected No. 164 overall by the Cincinnati Bengals. He could push Andy Dalton for the starting job in another year or two. It was surprising to see McCarron fall so far.

3:09 p.m.: Another quarterback finally comes off the board, as the Kansas City Chiefs pick Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray No. 163 overall. Murray tore his ACL last season, but he worked out for teams this spring and participated in Georgia’s pro day.

3:04 p.m.: The Philadelphia Eagles take another Pac-12 player, as Stanford safety Ed Reynolds is Philly’s No. 162 overall selection.

3 p.m.: The Green Bay Packers pick Ohio State center Corey Linsley with the No. 161 overall pick. Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron is still available.

2:56 p.m.: Suddenly there’s a run on defensive linemen. The Arizona Cardinals grab Alabama defensive end Ed Stinson No. 160 overall. He’s a good fit at five-technique defensive end in the Cards’ 3-4 alignment.

There’s a loooong way to go in Day 3 of the draft.

2:54 p.m.: The Jacksonville Jaguars get a potential steal in Arkansas defensive end Chris Smith at No. 159 overall. He was expected to be selected much higher than the fifth round.

2:50 p.m.: There’s an Ivy Leaguer off the board. The Detroit Lions pick Princeton defensive tackle Caraun Reid No. 158 overall.

2:48 p.m.: The Pittsburgh Steelers grab Arizona defensive back Shaquille Richardson No. 157 overall.

2:44 p.m.: The Miami Dolphins pick Georgia tight end Arthur Lynch No. 155 overall. The North Dartmouth, Mass., product is 6-foot-4, 258 pounds and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.82 seconds.

The Denver Broncos pick LSU linebacker Lamin Barrow No. 156 overall.

2:41 p.m.: The New York Jets grab Iowa State linebacker Jeremiah George No. 154 overall.

2:37 p.m.: The Buffalo Bills select Baylor guard Cyril Richardson No. 153 overall. Richardson was regarded as one of the top guards in the draft by some analysts.

2:36 p.m.:: The New York Giants pick San Diego State safety Nat Berhe No. 152 overall.

2:33 p.m.: The Tennessee Titans pick Kentucky linebacker Avery Williamson No. 151 overall.

2:32 p.m.: The San Francisco 49ers pick South Florida pass rusher Aaron Lynch No. 150 overall. Lynch started his college career at Notre Dame before transferring to USF.

2:28 p.m.: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers pick Purdue offensive tackle Kevin Pamphile No. 149 overall, just six picks after taking a guard. Depth and more protection for Mike Glennon or whoever the Bucs’ quarterback will be.

2:25 p.m.: The Carolina Panthers pick San Jose State cornerback Bene Benwikere No. 148 overall after acquiring the pick from the Minnesota Vikings.

The Buffalo Bills trade the 149th pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who now are on the clock. The Bills acquire a seventh-round pick (No. 221) in this draft and a fifth-round selection in next year’s draft.

2:22 p.m.: The Minnesota Vikings pick Stanford guard David Yankey at No. 145, the Dallas Cowboys trade up to No. 146 to take Pittsburgh wide receiver David Street and the Atlanta Falcons use the 147th overall pick on Purdue cornerback Ricardo Allen.

The Cowboys gave a fifth-round pick (No. 158) and a seventh-rounder (No. 229) to the Oakland Raiders to draft Street.

2:14 p.m.: The Jacksonville Jaguars pick Florida State linebacker Telvin Smith No. 144 overall.

2:12 p.m.: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers pick Tennessee State guard Kadeem Edwards No. 143 overall.

2:10 p.m.: The Washington Redskins pick Tulane wide receiver Ryan Grant No. 142 overall. Another young receiver for Robert Griffin III

2:08 p.m.: The Philadelphia Eagles open Round 5 by picking Oregon defensive end Taylor Hart No. 141 overall.

2:04 p.m.: The New England Patriots take their second offensive lineman of the fourth round, picking Stanford tackle Cameron Fleming at No. 140.

Fleming’s college coach, David Shaw, is on the NFL Network set providing analysis and had great things to say about his former charge. According to Shaw, Fleming doesn’t get beat on the line and is a quick learner.

2:02 p.m.: Notre Dame linebacker Prince Shembo goes to the Atlanta Falcons at No. 139 overall.

The New England Patriots quickly turned in the 140th pick, the last of the fourth round. We’re awaiting word on who they’ve selected.

1:59 p.m.: The Baltimore Ravens pick Coastal Carolina running back Lorenzo Taliaferro No. 138 overall.

1:56 p.m.: The New York Jets pick Furman guard Dakota Dozier at No. 137, one spot after the Detroit Lions take Bloomburg defensive end Larry Webster.

1:52 p.m.: The Houston Texans finally take a quarterback, going with Pittsburgh’s Tom Savage with the 135th overall pick. The Texans have Case Keenum, T.J. Yates and Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB, but none of these three figures to be the long-term answer.

Picks before that: Minnesota safety Brock Vareen, brother of Patriots running back Shane Vereen, to the Chicago Bears (No. 131); Boston College linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis to the Seattle Seahawks (No. 132), Utah State cornerback Nevin Lawson to the Detroit Lions (No. 133) and Virginia defensive tackle Brent Urban to the Baltimore Ravens (No. 134).

1:39 p.m.: The Patriots picked Wisconsin running back James White No. 130 overall. The Patriots had a major need at running back after Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen.

1:36 p.m.: The San Francisco 49ers pick N.C. State cornerback Dontae Johnson No. 129 overall. The New England Patriots are on the clock.

1:34 p.m.: The Carolina Panthers grab North Carolina safety Tre Boston with the 128th overall pick.

1:31 p.m.: The Cleveland Browns finally selected Lindenwood cornerback Pierre Desir. The Browns got a steal in the 6-foot-1 small-schooler with the 127th pick.

1:27 p.m.: The New Orleans Saints make California linebacker Khairi Fortt the No. 126 overall pick.

1:25 p.m.: Liberty cornerback Walt Aikens is the Miami Dolphins’ pick at No. 125 overall.

1:22 p.m. The Kansas City Chiefs select Oregon offensive weapon De’Anthony Thomas with the 124th overall pick.

Thomas is speedy and shifty, but he’s very undersized at 5-foot-9, 174 pounds. Thomas could take over Dexter McCluster’s old role.

1:18 p.m.: The Seattle Seahawks pick Alabama wide receiver Kevin Norwood No. 123 overall.

Norwood could be a steal in the fourth round. He’s fast and shifty for a 6-foot-2, 198-pound wideout.

1:13 p.m.: The Tennessee Titans grab Wyoming cornerback Marqueston Huff No. 122 overall. Huff could be moved to safety in the NFL.

1:10 p.m.: The Green Bay Packers pick Arizona State linebacker Carl Bradford with the No. 121 overall pick.

Bradford was thought of as a potential Day 2 pick by some draft analysts. He can rush off the edge and play stand-up linebacker, though he’s slightly undersized at 6-foot-1.

1:05 p.m.: The Arizona Cardinals select Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas with the No. 120 overall pick. Thomas is a freak athlete, and was projected by some analysts as a tight end convert.

Thomas struggled during his college career, but he has the tools, speed and agility to be a star if Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians and quarterback coach Freddie Kitchens can put the pieces together.

If Thomas can’t play quarterback, the Cardinals landed a great athlete.

1:03 p.m.: The Dallas Cowboys select Iowa linebacker Anthony Hitchens with the No. 119 overall pick.

1:01 p.m.: The Pittsburgh Steelers find a steal in Clemson receiver Martavis Bryant with the 118th overall pick. Bryant is 6-foot-4 and 211 pounds with 4.42 speed.

12:58 p.m.: The Chicago Bears grab Arizona running back Ka’Deem Carey with the 117th overall pick. Carey timed slowly at the NFL Scouting Combine, but he’s a shifty back with great hands out of the backfield.

12:54 p.m.: The Oakland Raiders pick Utah cornerback Keith McGill No. 116 overall.

12:51 p.m.: The New York Jets address their receiver need by taking UCLA’s Shaq Evans No. 115 overall.

12:46 p.m.: The Jacksonville Jaguars pick Oklahoma cornerback Aaron Colvin No. 114 overall. Colvin tore his ACL at the Senior Bowl, but he graded as a second-round pick before that, according to The Florida Times-Union’s Hays Carlyon.

12:43 p.m.: The New York Giants pick Boston College running back Andre Williams No. 113 overall. Williams was a Heisman Trophy finalist and gives the Giants much-needed depth.

12:42 p.m.: The Tennessee Titans pick Penn State defensive tackle DaQuan Jones No. 112 overall.

12:38 p.m.: The Seattle Seahawks trade the 111th pick to the Cincinnati Bengals, who select North Carolina center Russell Bodine. The Seahawks receive a fourth-round pick (No. 123) and a sixth-rounder (No. 199) in the deal.

12:35 p.m.: The St. Louis Rams pick Utah State safety Maurice Alexander No. 110 overall.

12:33 p.m.: The Buffalo Bills picked Duke cornerback Ross Cockrell No. 109 overall.

12:32 p.m.: The Seahawks picked UCLA defensive end Cassius Marsh No. 108 overall. Pete Carroll selects a Bruin.

12:27 p.m.: The Oakland Raiders picked Louisiana Tech defensive tackle Justin Ellis No. 107 overall.

12:24 p.m.: The San Francisco 49ers continue to boost their receiving corps, using the 106th pick on South Carolina wide receiver Bruce Ellington. The 49ers acquired Stevie Johnson from the Buffalo Bills on Friday.

12:21 p.m.: The New England Patriots selected Florida State offensive lineman Bryan Stork with the 105th pick. Stork played center at Florida State. He’s 6-foot-4, 315 pounds and was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine.

We’ll have full analysis shortly on NESN.com.

12:17 p.m.: The New York Jets selected Oklahoma wide receiver Jalen Saunders with the 104th pick, which they received from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Darrelle Revis trade.

The New England Patriots are on the clock.

12:13 p.m.: The Atlanta Falcons picked Florida State running back Devonte Freeman No. 103 overall.

12:09 p.m.: The Washington Redskins selected Clemson cornerback Bashaud Breeland No. 102 overall.

12:07 p.m.: The Eagles selected Florida defensive back Jaylen Watkins No. 101 overall.

12:02 p.m.: The Philadelphia Eagles are on the clock with pick No. 101.

Noon:: The third day of the 2014 NFL draft has arrived, and the New England Patriots will be very busy.

The Patriots have seven picks on Day 3, with three in the fourth round, three in the sixth round and one in the seventh round. The Patriots don’t have a fifth-round pick right now, but that always could change, of course, with a trade.

Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, Clemson wide receiver Martavis Bryant and Lindenwood cornerback Pierre Desir are among the top available players.

The Patriots pick first at No. 105. We’re posted up at Radio City Music Hall in New York and ready to list every pick here on NESN.com, so follow along.
