If the Boston Celtics, who have the fifth-best odds in the upcoming NBA draft lottery, end up picking roughly where they are slotted, they could have a chance at Arizona forward Aaron Gordon. The 18-year-old is high on most draft boards due to his ridiculous hops and promising upside.
As for his math skills, the jury is out.
In an interview at the draft combine in Chicago, one team — Gordon said he could not remember which one — asked him how many pennies are in a million dollars, Gordon told Jay King of MassLive. Gordon, unprepared for the question, came up with an answer that really can’t be argued with.
“A lot,” he said.
Hopefully for Gordon, who has multiple millions coming his way if he is drafted in the lottery as expected, he never has to find out. Presumably, the NBA pays its players with checks, not coins, although this sounds like the premise for a pretty awesome rookie prank.
By the way, there are 100 million pennies in a million dollars. Does that help our draft stock?
