Aqib TalibDenver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib somehow developed a chip on his shoulder after signing a six-year, $57 million contract with the team this offseason.

Bill Belichick wasn’t willing to match the Broncos’ offer for Talib, but the New England Patriots head coach was happy to pay even more for a higher-profile cornerback, giving Darrelle Revis a one-year, $12 million deal.

“Bill sure didn’t want to give me that money,” Revis said Friday on NFL Network. “So hey, he gave it to Revis. It is what it is.”

Talib was voted No. 79 by his peers on NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2014 list, below Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings, which the Broncos defender didn’t seem pleased about.

Talib said he could only see four cornerbacks being rated higher than himself — Revis, the Seattle Seahawks’ Richard Sherman, the Arizona Cardinals’ Patrick Peterson and the Cleveland Browns’ Joe Haden.
