Somewhere, Michael Scott is smiling because the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are moving on in the AHL playoffs after eliminating the Providence Bruins on Wednesday night.

The P-Bruins’ season ended with a disappointing 5-4 loss to the Penguins in Game 7 of their series. Providence fell behind 5-0, and despite a furious four-goal rally, the Baby B’s couldn’t quite get all the way back to tie the score.

One of WSB’s five goals will go down as one of the best at any level this season. Brian Gibbons scored an absolutely sensational goal to push the Penguins’ lead to 4-0, as the Braintree, Mass., native and Boston College alum weaved through the P-Bruins’ defense before burying the puck in the net.

The Penguins now advance to the Eastern Conference finals, where they’ll face the St. John’s IceCaps, the Winnipeg Jets’ AHL affiliate.
