The Boston Red Sox dropped a tough one Sunday afternoon, falling to the Oakland Athletics 3-2 in 10 innings.
After earning back-to-back wins against the A’s, the Red Sox couldn’t pull off the sweep in the series finale because of what relief pitcher Chris Capuano called “a tough break.” After Capuano got two quick outs in the 10th, he loaded the bases, prompting Red Sox manager John Farrell to call on Burke Badenhop to escape the jam with Yoenis Cespedes coming up to bat. Cespedes hit a dribbler down the third base line and beat it out to score Jed Lowrie.
The Red Sox will look to get back on the winning track Tuesday night as they host the Cincinnati Reds.
