The Boston Bruins aren’t hitting the panic button.
One day after dropping Game 3 to the Montreal Canadiens to trail their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series 2-1, the Bruins know there’s plenty of hockey to be played.
“It’s a 2-1 series, and it’s not the end of the world for us,” Claude Julien told reporters Wednesday, via the Toronto Sun. “We’re not panicking by any means.”
With Game 4 looming, the Bruins held an optional skate at the Habs’ practice facility, with Shawn Thornton, Gregory Campbell, Jordan Caron, Justin Florek, Matt Bartkowski, Corey Potter, Dennis Seidenberg and Chad Johnson choosing to participate.
While the Bruins aren’t sounding the alarms by any means, Julien emphasized that his team hasn’t played to its potential. They’re facing a Montreal squad that’s firing on all cylinders, but the confidence level in the Bruins’ locker room hasn’t wavered one bit.
“We’re a group that’s confident, but we also have guys right now that are frustrated with themselves,” Julien said. “They have to be better. They are going to be better tomorrow. That’s the confidence we have in our group. We’ve got to rely on those guys to come in and play the way they can.”
The Black and Gold have played from behind in the first three games, but they’ll look for a sharper start in Thursday night’s Game 4 at Bell Centre.
