The Boston Red Sox signed shortstop Stephen Drew hoping to add some spark to a struggling defense and offense, but did it light a fire under the young guys instead?
Since the Drew signing, Sox youngsters Brock Holt and Xander Bogaerts have been red-hot, which has complicated things with Drew set to return on Monday.
It seems the move would be to shift Bogaerts to third base, but he’s beginning to come into his own at shortstop. Bogaerts being at third would either demote Holt to Triple-A Pawtucket or have him riding the bench as a utility man, both of which have their pros and cons.
