Dustin Pedroia is starting to do some damage — quite literally, in fact — atop the Boston Red Sox’s lineup.
Pedroia enters Friday’s series opener against the Texas Rangers hitting .333 (10-for-30) with a .429 on-base percentage in seven games this month. He went 4-for-10 in the Red Sox’s recent two-game series against the Cincinnati Reds, and the All-Star second baseman even tore a hole in one of Fenway Park’s advertisements for good measure.
Pedroia fouled a pitch back while facing Reds starter Mike Leake in the first inning of Wednesday’s game. The ball drilled the backstop with such force that it tore a hole right through an ad located behind home plate.
