Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton doesn’t just hit home runs, but rather launches baseballs across the state of Florida.
That might be an exaggeration, but with his latest feat, it seems like a pretty accurate assessment.
Stanton has hit five 450-foot home runs this season already, which is more than any MLB team has combined. According to ESPN’s home run tracker, the San Francisco Giants have the most with four combined.
Stanton’s longest home run also unsurprisingly is this season’s longest in the league. The 484-foot bomb he hit on April 4 just beats out a 482-foot jack from Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz on April 22. He hit it against the San Diego Padres to set a Marlins Stadium record.
Four of his five monster home runs were hit at Marlins Stadium, while the remaining one was hit at Citizens Back Park against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Only 24 home runs have traveled 450 feet or more this season, so that means that Stanton has hit 20.8 percent of them. Any way you look at this situation, it’s beyond impressive.
Stanton has hit 16 home runs on the season, which is good for third in the league behind Nelson Cruz (19) and Edwin Encarnacion (18).
