Dylan Fosnacht, a high school pitcher in Washington, threw a mind-boggling 194 pitches during a district tournament game Tuesday.

Fosnacht struck out 17 batters over 14 shutout innings in his Rochester High School team’s 1-0 victory. He stands by his coach’s decision to leave him in and even shot down the advice of 2012 AL Cy Young winner and three-time All-Star David Price on Twitter.

While Fosnacht’s will to win is admirable, it’s also very naive. His reasoning that he’s not regularly a pitcher is half-baked because middle infielders can certainly suffer elbow injuries, especially if they were overworked pitching in high school.

Luckily, Fosnacht reported to USA Today High School Sports that his arm was fine the next day, and this doesn’t seem like something that would ever be a regular thing. His coach Jerry Striegel also expressed regret  to Yahoo Sports’ Big League Stew on Thursday.

“I realize that it was way too many pitches,” Striegel said. “I can understand everybody’s concern about it. And I would tell you too that I am concerned also. I probably would change the decision today.”
