Of the 12 injuries Yoann Gourcuff has suffered since joining Lyon in August 2010, the last one must be the unluckiest.

Gourcuff suffered strained ankle ligaments after stumbling while walking his dog Christian earlier this week, according to Metro.

The injury likely will rule Gourcuff out of Lyon’s final game of the season — this Saturday’s Ligue 1 (French first division) contest at Nice — but his team is used to going into battle without him.

Gourcuff, 27, failed to earn a spot on France’s squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, compounding his misery. The midfielder will be a free agent after this season and is rumored to be one of Arsenal’s transfer targets.

Given Arsenal’s injury problems in recent seasons, Gourcuff might find a happy home in the Gunners’ dressing room.
